How much does it cost to repair a broken timing belt?

A friend took a look at it and confirmed the timing belt was broken. Timing belts are usually replaced at a certain mileage or time (whichever comes first). If you are lucky you didn't bend any valves during timing belt failure. Belt should cost under $100 and labour probably $500 or more.
A friend has a saturn SL. My replacements and repairs on the timing belt cost me $60, shop cost. It's quite cheap but reliable.
