Do you get better mileage with a stick shift?

-would you get better gas mileage with a manual transmission and knew how to use it or in a automatic transmissionHistorically, automatic transmissions couldn't compete for fuel efficiency. However, recently, they've become *very* close.That is true 5 years ago, but with all the latest improvements in automatics such 6-8 speeds being standard, dual clutch. It isn't so true anymore (they also shift 1/10 of a second, faster than a person cn shift a standard). Though those transmissions are mostly available to luxury vehicles or high performance vehicles, so it isn't so main stream yet.
You may be able to get slightly better mileage with a stick over an automatic.



Guess it's really more a matter of preference, since the mileage won't vary that much either way.



You'd need to decide which you would rather have. Figure out your own pros and cons based on what's most important to you.

NO!!!! IT ALL DEPENDS ON ENGINE SIZE. MOST MANUAL TRANS VEHICLES HAVE SMALL ENGINE
