-A bad fuel pump can cause hard starting, lack of power, stalling, loud pump noise wynning humming, hesitation, ruff idle. And a few more can't think of off hand. But usually a fuel pump either works or it doesn't usually they are fine then it will start with a few hard starts and then just die. I have had a couple cars in my life I turned off and then wouldn't start out the blue. On of my cars I turned off got gas then it wouldn't start I did a fuel pump change out in a gas station at the pump in my mustang before let's just say the guys working didn't like me but when they came out and noticed what I was actually doing it was to late tank was all ready off. And by the way it sucks dropping a tank eith a full tank 15 gallons of gas. But back on subject that all I can think of off hand if I think of more I will let you know.
Also misfire and you will have lack of power again BUT very noticeable at highway speeds it won't want to stay up to speed it would be like climbing a hill or grade with you're foot on the gas and not giving more gass for the hill it will have a de acceleration on a straight away even if you have gas pedal at the same position and if it is on cruise control it will feel shaky and hesitant. Hope this helps. But 99% of time a fuel pump will leave you stranded with even no signee of problems or even at the start of a sign of the problem.
