My tranny fluid is a little black in my 2002 Ford Focus?? What can I do to help it?

-It looks a little black and smells odd...Does this mean it's dead or do I just need to add more or what??? Help..Its a 2002 Ford Focus SE Automatic..You could take it too a shop for a tranny fluid flush, or if ur car is auto its pretty easy to do yourself. Just get a large container and unbolt ur transmission pan with the container underneath to collect the fluid, replace the gasket and bolt back on. Do when car is cool. Replace fluid w reccomended amount and your good. Are u sure it smells wierd? Tranny fluid is supossed to smell different than oil or gas.
