Lpg fueled welding torch?

-i'm an amateur when it come to oxy-fuel welding and i've put together a torching kit with a

USED:

1) harris brand cutting torch and handle (it was second hand so it's hard to tell the exact part number)

2) harris two stage 92-15 acetylene regulator

3) harris cutting tip 6290 (for propane and natural gas),

NEW:

4) and new generic brand oxy/fuel hose

5) pair of flashback arrestors (forgot the brand)

i'm not really looking to cut thick sheets of steel or anything that requires advance skills. just to heat up a few things (to bend them and stuff).

the only fuel source that i have that doesn't need special adapter are a tank of lpg. when the lpg tank's valve is on max, the first gauge indicates around 100 psi.

then when i completely open the regulator and torch valves the flame that come out is nothing like cone-shaped cutting torch flame. at best it's just got a bluish area right out of the tip, then spreads out like a big red fire. my first guess is i probably shouldn't be using a propane cutting tip, but somehow, i think it must be something else.Nope, you still MUST have oxygen mixed with it.

If you are just using LPG (propane) then you should have went to wal mart and bought you a $15 plumber's propane torch thats used to melt silver solder for joining copper pipes together.

Thats all the heat you will get from just LPG... The extra heat, the cone flame and the power to heat metal to a glowing red so it can be bent is done with fuel (acetylene or propane) for the basic fire, then add in oxygen to make fire hotter.

Next, your fuel pressure is too high. Run acetylene at NO higher than 6 psi, LPG at no more than 10 psi.

The oxygen you turn up to 30-45 psi depending on what you are heating, cutting, etc

Then you open the fuel valve on torch handle, light the torch and adjust till smoke goes away... The fire will be a red-ish orange...Then you open the oxygen valve on torch, the flame will turn blue-ish white...and adjust till you get your cone.

You need 1 torch handle, torch tips/rosebid or cutting end

1 fuel gauge and reg.

1 oxygen gauge and reg.

Twin hose (red and green)

1 fuel bottlw

1 oxygen bottle
