-I have a 1992 Acura Vigor and need to know where the A/C drain plug is located. On the passenger side of my car, it leaks water when the air is on. Also when it is on and you mash the brake it makes this scrapping noise. The floorboards of my car are STANDING IN WATER from this and I need to know where this piece is located and how to fix it with any help.
Thanks for any help!!A/C drain is typically a hose or hose-like piece of rubber coming from the A/C evaporator cabinet, which is usually the black plastic housing in front of the passenger side, just visible from underneath the dashboard. The hose / drain-piece usually goes through a hole in either the firewall (the metal wall between the engine and passenger compartment) or in the center "hump" of the floorboard, pointing towards the center of the car. The hose is usually difficult to see from the passenger compartment, but if you peel back the carpet and pads a bit you might be able to see it. If you can see the hose inside, you'll know where to look for the end outside. It can be seen fairly easily from the underside of the car, and sometimes from the engine compartment, on the firewall, on the passenger side.
Clearing or cleaning it is another issue. If the A/C cabinet has ever been removed, sometimes the re-installer crushes the drain between the cabinet and the floorboard. If it still "should" drain outside, it may be clogged or just rotten and leaking. If you see it, and can get to it from outside, try clearing it by poking into the "out" end, carefully, with something relatively soft, such as a small piece of rubber hose. If it seems to drain when the hose is in there but stops as soon as you pull it out, you can leave a piece of hose inside it to block the little rubber "valve" mechanism open.
Bottom line, If you don't feel up to quite a bit of frustration from a seemingly simple job, take it to a mechanic and let them headache with it. If it needs replacing it can well be a job for a mechanic, as the A/C cabinet will probably have to be removed or at least moved. The part then, would be cheap but the labor, not so much.
If the carpets start stinking, that's just a whole 'nuther topic. The condenser is located in the engine compartment and there is no drain plug. The only thing that can leak water into your passenger compartment is you heater core. It's leaking and needs to be replaced. It's not a DIY job.
Your brakes making a "scraping noise" is your brake warning clip. That means you need new front brake pads or if they are already gone rotors too.
