-My car has been parked for a few days, and I just noticed the leak today. How much would it be to get this fixed, and what happens if I drive it while it has this problem? I have a 2000 Dodge Neon
Any help or info is greatly appreciated, thanks.Nobody can tell you what it will cost until the source of the leak is determined by checking over the motor. It won't hurt to drive it as long as you keep the oil level above the add mark on the dipstick. Check the engine in the morning before starting it to get the most accurate reading. Make an appointment to have the leak sourced and than have them give you an estimate for repair. Ask up front what they will charge for the diagnosis. It should be about 1/2 hours shop time which should be
well under $100. Keep calling until somebody gives you a reasonable charge for a diagnosis. By the way, if you recently had an oil change, the oil on the ground could just be oil that hung up on the frame after the oil change, in which case it would stop dripping in a few days. If the repair estimate is more than you can afford, you can do what many do, just keep checking the oil and adding as needed. Not the best for the environment, but you can only do what you can afford. Good luck.
