What Are The Advantages and Disadvantages of Nitrogen Air Filled Tires?

-Is ordinary air just as good, or does the nitrogen provide any benefit?After 30,000 miles on nitrogen, I'm prepared to say that there's one definite benefit: it leaks less than mere air. (My usual routine, checking the pressure with my own gauge, I used to do every week; now I seldom have to bother more than once a month.)



The other arguments - that it's supposedly kinder to the inside of the tire and that it improves stability - I can't really address.



There is, of course, the major disadvantage: it costs a few bucks, whereas air (if you own a compressor, as I do) is essentially free.Since air is already 70% Nitrogen there isn't much of an advantage

Nitrogen has larger molecules and does not leak out through the rubber.
